Introducing Playground: Free your piano practice with ROLI Learn

Welcome to Playground, a brand-new space in the ROLI Learn app where you can practice and play without rules or boundaries in a fun environment that helps you learn more about music. Just go where the music takes you.

Enter into a colorful landscape where every note you play turns into a bouncing ball on the screen, moving to the music you create. To get started, you can explore different sounds to familiarize yourself with how Playground works as the screen fills with music and color.

With three new features— including the adjustable metronome, chord detection, and access to Piano M's 84-key range—you’re all set to explore, create, and grow your piano skills at your own pace. There are no rules in Playground, just go where the music takes you.

Melodic freedom with an 84-key range

Experience musical freedom as you explore an 84-key range of the Piano M – simply use the arrow buttons on your Piano M to scroll to a higher or lower octave range. Play around with songs you’ve memorized, or get creative with chords and music theory you’ve learned to make your own melodies. Learn to improvise, and express yourself fully and freely.

Get inspired by different sounds

Discover a new sonic landscape by choosing different sounds in Playground, including Acoustic Guitar, Choir, Rhodes Piano, and Bright Synth. This is a fun way to discover how the instrument you play changes the sound of the melody and chords. Each new sound unlocks a different visual background in Playground, so you can find one that matches your tune and see where the inspiration takes you.

Find your groove with the Metronome

Finding your rhythm has never been easier with Playground’s built-in metronome. Take the songs you've memorized in the ROLI Learn app to a space where you can play at your own pace, and gradually adjust the tempo as you improve. Develop a natural sense of rhythm, master tricky parts, and practice without pressure.

Discover music theory with Chord Detection

Playground’s chord detection is here to help you grasp the basics of music theory through discovery. Experiment with chords you know, add new notes, or take some away, and Playground will help you recognize new chord structures and musical patterns. Learn as you play, grow your musical knowledge, and keep the creativity flowing.
